Frimley Health is a Trust where great care and great careers go hand in hand. We’re three hospitals working closely with each other and with the communities we serve in Surrey, Berkshire, Hampshire and Buckinghamshire  - our organisation has brought Heatherwood and Wexham hospitals into the fold of Frimley Park Hospital and its wider community services.

You’ll find the highest standards of clinical excellence across our locations and a friendly, supportive, open culture that brings everyone together. For our team it means a great day-to-day working experience – in a Trust with strong leadership, a clear sense of direction and an exciting vision for the future. The investment and changes ahead make this an exciting place to be. You can play your part in delivering exceptional patient care, while continuing to grow, develop and progress through first class learning and training.

Frimley Park Hospital’s Obstetric Unit manages 5500 deliveries per year for which the Anaesthetic Department provides 24h cover. There are 23.5 consultant obstetric anaesthetic sessions per week comprising consultant cover of delivery suite 12h per weekday, and a daily elective caesarean section list. High Risk Obstetric Anaesthesia clinics take place weekly.
The Anaesthetic Department seeks a motivated anaesthetist with an interest in obstetric anaestheisa. Previous experience in research is not necessary – the Fellowship will provide the opportunity to learn about all stages of the research process from designing a study and gaining ethics approval through to presentation and publication. The opportunities to gain experience in audit, teaching, management and simulation are also open to the successful applicant.
The Fellow will expand their obstetric knowledge through time spent on labour ward, managing elective caesarean lists, and at the High Risk Obstetric Anaesthesia Clinics. Depending on the Fellow’s clinical experience, there may be opportunities for the successful applicant to “act up” at a more senior level.
The Fellow will take part in the trainee 1:8 on call rota, being on call for Obstetrics, Intensive Care Unit or Theatres as required. The trainees are supported by an anaesthetic consultant and an intensive care consultant on call from home.
The post is for 6-12 months commencing August 2018.
