Consultant Haematologist –
Consultant haematology vacancy , based at Frimley Park Hospital Surrey.
This is a replacement post joining a team of 3 consultants. The consultants have day to day responsibility for haematology patients admitted to G1 ward, which has single room ensuite facilities, with a well staffed chemotherapy day unit adjacent to the ward. The inpatient cohort is currently BSH level 2a and is well positioned to increase to level 2b when 4 consultants are in post. Out of hours on-site cover is provided by the medical team ’on-take’, with advice from the consultant haematologist on call.
The Frimley Health (FH), Royal Surrey County Hospital, St Peter’s Hospital and Royal Berkshire Hospital Pathology Departments operate as an NHS managed laboratory service (Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Services - BSPS). Each Consultant Haematologist participates in overseeing the laboratory service based on site. The GP work across North Surrey is at Frimley Park Hospital. The hub laboratories are robotic-assisted for both automated biochemistry and haematology. These laboratories between them process all the GP requests for NHS services in the whole of Berkshire, South Buckinghamshire and North Surrey. The haematology teams also supervise the anticoagulation pharmacist/nurse led service for their respective local populations.
Out of hours cover will be on a 1:4 non-resident rota. Applicants should have experience in the day to day management of patients with acute and chronic leukaemia, lymphomas, myeloma, general haematological problems, disorders of haemostasis and blood transfusion. The Frimley Health Executive is committed to expanding and improving cancer care services locally, providing care close to home wherever possible. The appointee to this vacancy would need to be willing and able to contribute to a future shared vision with colleagues across Frimley Health.
If you are comfortable working as part of an innovative team, with a real enthusiasm for haematology, then you will flourish at Frimley Park.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
