Microbiology Trust Registrar post (ST3+ equivalent)

1st August 2018 for 12 months

Applications are welcome for the post of Trust Registrar in Microbiology at Frimley Park Hospital for a period of one year.

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust has a merged Pathology directorate with the Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Ashford and St Peter's NHS Foundation Trust and Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust, which is known as Berkshire & Surrey Pathology Services (BSPS). The Clinical Service operates across Frimley Park Hospital from 9am to 5pm and then there is a shared on-call service out-of-hours.

The Department actively promotes research. There are close links with the departments of Clinical Biochemistry and Microbiology at the University of Surrey and with the Postgraduate Medical School where there are excellent facilities for research, including a purpose-built combined laboratory, with dedicated areas for flow cytometry, PCR and tissue culture work.  The Department also has a regular programme of internal audit and quality meetings and is also active within the overall BSPS Quality Compliance Group.

There is a lot to learn and be involved in, so, whilst this post is not recognised for training purposes, it will provide excellent experience in Microbiology and could be a stepping stone to further training. The service is extensive, providing bacteriology, mycology and parasitology.
