Frimley Park Hospital is deploying the EMIS Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration system and we are seeking an experienced nurse or pharmacist to join us as the EPMA System Manager for one year to cover maternity leave.
You will be working closely with our established Safer Medicines Project Team who is responsible for the initial build, development, training and deployment of the system, and as the project progresses assuming responsibility for the on-going development and maintenance of EMIS EPMA.
A good clinical background is essential as developing decision support is a key component of the job. You must have good communication skills and negotiating skills in order to translate clinicians and nursing staff’s aspirations into reality.
Good leadership skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage change are essential in order to deliver further enhancements to the system.
You must be self-motivated; capable of working independently, and as part of a team, both during the project phase, and as the system matures and transitions into business as usual.
Strong analytical and reasoning skills are critical in order to both develop and test prescribing templates, and to further develop decision support. You need to be responsive and able to reprioritise rapidly in a fast moving environment; switching between tasks such as troubleshooting problems identified by users, or responding to sudden changes in practice brought about by safety alerts issued by the MHRA.
EPMA is a key enabler in the Trust’s IM&T strategy offering significant benefits for patient care. You will be working with other stakeholders on service development and new ways of working. Engagement in both audit and developing reporting is therefore essential for the role.
Based on the Frimley site, you will be expected to work alongside medical and nursing staff on evenings and shifts and be on call during the piloting and roll - out stages.
