Frimley Health is a Trust where great care and great careers go hand in hand. We’re three hospitals working closely with each other and with the communities we serve in Surrey, Berkshire, Hampshire and Buckinghamshire  - our organisation has brought Heatherwood and Wexham hospitals into the fold of Frimley Park Hospital and its wider community services.

You’ll find the highest standards of clinical excellence across our locations and a friendly, supportive, open culture that brings everyone together. For our team it means a great day-to-day working experience – in a Trust with strong leadership, a clear sense of direction and an exciting vision for the future. The investment and changes ahead make this an exciting place to be. You can play your part in delivering exceptional patient care, while continuing to grow, develop and progress through first class learning and training.

Applications are invited for a Junior Clinical Fellow post in General Surgery and Urology Departments based at Wexham Park Hospital, Slough. These posts commence from August 2018 initially for a year with a possibility of further extension.

This job would suit a candidate wanting to enhance their experience and CV either with a view to entering Core Training or prior to applying for a Higher Surgical Training position. Junior Clinical Fellows will be exposed to varied opportunities in the operating theatre in elective, emergency and day case procedures. Typically you will be expected to further your experience in performing laparoscopic appendicectomy, open hernia, minor urological surgery and laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

These posts are not formally recognised for training but the department is keen to offer teaching, research, courses and support for career development. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will be in post for 1 year with the option to extend for a further year. There is an excellent postgraduate centre with a superbly equipped surgical skills lab offering Consultant led regular technical skills and simulation sessions. The RCS BSS course runs twice a year in the Postgraduate Centre, as well as CCrISP and ATLS. Mentorship will be provided for MRCS exam preparation.

Wexham Park Hospital is in Slough on the Buckinghamshire / Berkshire border. Whilst a pleasant leafy neighbourhood within the greenbelt, it is conveniently located on the main train line to London Paddington (15 mins fast train). Wexham Park hospital is also in close proximity to the M25, M4 and M40 and Heathrow Airport. Staff accommodation facilities are available on site.
