Frimley Health is a Trust where great care and great careers go hand in hand. We’re three hospitals working closely with each other and with the communities we serve in Surrey, Berkshire, Hampshire and Buckinghamshire  - our organisation has brought Heatherwood and Wexham hospitals into the fold of Frimley Park Hospital and its wider community services.

You’ll find the highest standards of clinical excellence across our locations and a friendly, supportive, open culture that brings everyone together. For our team it means a great day-to-day working experience – in a Trust with strong leadership, a clear sense of direction and an exciting vision for the future. The investment and changes ahead make this an exciting place to be. You can play your part in delivering exceptional patient care, while continuing to grow, develop and progress through first class learning and training.

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest acute Trusts in South East England, with the last CQC inspection of Frimley Park Hospital rating it as ‘outstanding’. Intensive Care is delivered on two of its three sites – Wexham Park Hospital, Slough and Frimley Park Hospital, Camberley – at which sites are also located the Trust’s Emergency Departments and facilities for emergency surgery. Elective surgery is delivered on those sites and Heatherwood Hospital, Ascot.

We are are seeking to appoint Consultants with the special interest in Intensive Care Medicine.

This post will be based at Wexham Park Hospital, rated as ‘outstanding’ by CQC in its latest inspection, although applicants may be expected to work across all sites within the Trust. The catchment area for the Wexham site is East Berkshire, with an overlap into South Bucks. It has excellent road and rail links and is within 30 minutes of London and 20 minutes of Heathrow.

Wexham Park Hospital is a busy 400 bedded hospital. There is a large General Medicine department, with a sizeable respiratory medicine unit, and Angiography Suite delivering a 24/7 PCI service. Other clinical services include Paediatrics, General Surgery, Urology, Trauma / Orthopaedics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Otolaryngology, Oral surgery and a sub-regional Plastic Surgery unit. There is an excellent new rehabilitation department, centralised laboratory, and diagnostic imaging including CT and MRI Scanner Suites. The busy ED is currently being redeveloped into a state of the art facility.

The Critical Care Unit is a modern 12 bedded ICU/HDU facility – nine level 3 and three level 2 – admitting around 750 patients per annum. The Unit admits a full range of adult general medical and surgical cases (10 operating theatres), as would be expected in a District General Hospital. It is a paperless Unit having recently implemented electronic prescribing and a CIS. There is a 24/7 nurse Outreach service, with daytime Consultant allocation. Critical Care Follow-up clinics are offered to patients who have had an extended stay in intensive care.

Applicants should have appropriate training in Intensive Care Medicine and be on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of their expected CCT date at the time of application. Candidates with any appropriate base speciality will be considered.
