Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust provides NHS hospital services for 900,000 people across Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey, and South Buckinghamshire. Services are delivered at three main hospital sites, Frimley Park, near Camberley, Heatherwood Hospital at Ascot, and Wexham Park Hospital in Slough.

This Consultant post will be based at Wexham Park Hospital and Heatherwood Hospital.

Wexham Park Hospital has a full range of services including general medicine and its sub-specialties, paediatrics, general surgery, vascular surgery, urology, orthopaedics, obstetrics and gynaecology, otolaryngology, oral surgery and a sub-regional plastic surgery unit. There is also a large Accident & Emergency department and a new theatre complex with 9 general theatres and one obstetric theatre.

Heatherwood Hospital offers both inpatient and outpatient services.

These new posts has been created to support the paediatric emergency department and the paediatric assessment unit. The post is for 10PAs but candidates not wishing to work full time are also invited to apply.
The post holder will have a job that rotates between the emergency department and the paediatric department every 6 weeks. Whilst in the emergency department (ED) they will have clinical sessions in the paediatric ED including one evening shift a week and one weekend of day/evening shifts. There will be no on call. They will also have a weekly general paediatric clinic and attend the weekly paediatric meeting.
During the paediatric 6 weeks they will have clinical sessions on PAU, a general clinic and take part in the consultant of the week rota and on call rota. To support the middle grade rota the post has a weekly late shift to 22.00 hours. A good grounding in General paediatrics and neonatology is essential
Applicants must be included on the GMC specialist register for Paediatrics or be within six months of CCT by the date of the interview.
