The Neurology Team at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust have a long established commitment to those with multiple sclerosis (MS). An exciting opportunity has arisen for an MS Specialist Nurse to assist in the development and future growth of local services on our Wexham Park/Heatherwood site. The post holder will be supported by the existing MS nursing team at Frimley Park and our community MS nursing colleagues within East Berkshire. This new and exciting role will hospital based. The post holder will be required to spend some time at Frimley Park during their induction/training to develop skills and knowledge dependant on experience. They may also be required to spend some time with the East Berkshire community MS nursing team during this initial phase also.

 

Our Frimley Park site is a prescribing centre for disease modifying therapies (DMT) which we have been offering for many years. MS therapeutics is undergoing significant growth and we are looking to develop our service offering these treatments to MS patients locally at Wexham Park as well as further enhancing our MS clinical care on this site.

 

Multidisciplinary team (MDT) working is an essential part of this role and building relationships with our community colleagues and those from other NHS Trusts is vital to the development of this new service.  

 

This is an exciting role for an enthusiastic and forward thinking nurse who has a passion for delivering innovative and first class care.

 

 

The primary role of the post holder will be:

 

Development of and administer treatment pathways for first and second line DMT’s and emerging NICE approved MS therapies.

 

Caseload management of MS patients referred by Frimley Health consultant neurologists.

 

Setting up a DMT and blood monitoring service

 

Run nurse led clinics at Wexham or other Frimley Health sites.

 

Develop the MS clinical service for the benefit of the patients, as laid out in the key tasks and responsibilities of the job description.
